Manny

My name is Manny, and I am a proud Tri-pod.
My Mom, Anna Eccher, is so grateful for your website.
She said the stories really helped her, when I had my accident.
I was adopted from a local animal shelter
(the same shelter my two adopted brothers came from)
when I was two months old.
I love my two adopted brothers, Triton and Marley, and we are all Lab mixes. I am a Lab and Newfoundland mix and love going swimming
and playing with my brothers.

When I was four months old, I was in the back of the truck with my brothers, and we were going to our pond to swim.
I jumped - or fell - out of the truck.
My Mom is not sure which, and neither am I,
but my Mom took me right away to the vet,
and he said either my back right leg would have to amputated,
or I would need to be put down.
My leg was shattered and couldn't be repaired.

My Mom cried and cried and wasn't sure what to do,
but my human Dad and human Brother and Sisters told her to let them take my leg off, because three legged dogs are awesome and do just great.

My Mom agreed, and so I had my surgery, and that is when she found your website. She said she cried when she read all the stories about all the brave and wonderful three legged dogs, and it made her feel so much better.

My vet was very good, and my surgery went great, and I was SOOOO happy, to finally get to go home. It took a while for me to adjust, but I am doing great. I am 17 months old now, and don't even realize I only have three legs! Everyone who sees me is impressed by my abilities,
but Mom says she already knew that, anyway!!

We now live right next to our pond (and that is good, because Mom said we will never go in the back of a truck again) and I get to swim and run and play with my brothers every day. I have learned how to get up on the couch and sit by my Mom at night, and she loves me very much, and tells me all the time how brave I am!

My Mom still checks out your website all of the time to see all of the wonderful three legged dogs, and she says she is so glad she made the decision for me to have my surgery.

As you can see by the pictures, I am doing great!! I love the water!!
My Mom says "Thanks again"!!!

Jindi

Hi, I'm writing to ask if you know of many dogs who have lost two limbs. Our Dingo, Jindi lost her first front right leg due to falling off a ute and being dragged and now 9 months later, looks like she will lose her back left leg as well, due to bone infection (not sure).

I am taking her for another checkup with the vet tomorrow and am really concerned as to how she will cope on the remaining two legs. Can you give me any info, at all??

Kind regards,
